The Chainsmokers and Halsey perform ‘Closer’ at the AMAs
The New York duo delivered the hit’s smoothest performance to date.
The Chainsmokers aimed to make up for their last live of performance of their hit “Closer” when accepting a spot on the American Music Awards lineup for 2016. After suffering through poor acoustics during their VMA’s performance earlier this year, the chart-topping duo entered a far more thorough preparation for this past Sunday’s award show.
In addition to recruiting Travis Barker for drumming duties, production for their revamped AMA performance included pyrotechnics and a bevy of backup dancers which enhanced Halsey’s powerful vocals. Special edits to the track made specifically for the night were also added in, prompting further enthusiasm from the audience that translated to a wildly successful makeup for the group’s prior performance at the VMAs.
